FWZIP Manager Auto-Install
PATH
+--- /\ ALERT /\ ---+

Print This File
FWZIP Manager MUST have a DOS path for finding the PKZIP
related *.exe files, a default path for finding *.zip files, and
a path for finding the on-line help file. That is, there are
three expected path settings.
The *.exe path is crucial, because if FWZIP Manager does not
find the needed *.exe file it will not work.
The *.zip path is not as crucial, as it merely affects
cabinet filtering and default entries when the program prompts
you for file names, both of which can be changed on-the-fly
during program execution. (But an accurate *.zip file path makes
the program easier to use, because the changeable default will
more often than not be the *.zip path you want).
The help path does not affect program operation, but is
necessary in order for on-line help to function.
The auto-install program you just ran re-set ALL THREE to
match your current path.
The path set for each is shown as the
last line of this message.
NOTE: Although auto-install sets both
paths to the same (your current) path,
the set paths can be
different.
You can change all via the FWZIP Manager
tilities prompt
line menu. Choose
et Path From the
tilities sub-menu and, then
choose either "
xe Files For PKZIP" (to set the path for FWZIP
Manager to find your PKZIP related *.exe files) OR "
ipped Files"
(to set the path for FWZIP Manager to expect to find zipped,
*.zip, files) OR "
n-Line Help Files" (to set the path for FWZIP
Manager to expect to find the on-line help file).
Search on-line help for "Path Help" or see FWZdoc.fw3 for
more information on DOS paths.
..........
NOTE: The code for executing PKZIP functions
a "\"
before the command line "PKZIP.exe [variables]" and other FWZIP
Manager file commands also add an "\". In other words, FWZIP
Manager expects the DOS path settings NOT to end with a "\". E.g.
: "A:", not "A:\"; and "C:\fw", not "C:\fw\".
The auto setting for initial paths (set by the auto install
program) works for all DOS paths, EXCEPT the root; e.g.
your
PKZIP related *.exe files are in your root directory, then you
will have to manually make sure that the FWZIP Manager path
setting for finding *.exe files does
end with a "\": e.g.
"A:", NOT "A:\". To do so Change each path via the FWZIP Manager
tilities sub-menu as explained above.
See path info below to see if you have a path problem.
